Matthew Phillip Toman, 26, of Cedar Rapids, passed away July 24, 2015, in Peoria, Ill., following a motorcycle accident. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from noon until service time.
Survivors include his father, Jamey Toman (Lori Yoder) of Cedar Rapids; mother, Lisa (Tony) Stoddard-Wise of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Bryce Toman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandfather, Martin Stoddard of Shelley, Idaho; aunts, Lindsey (Scott) Chapman and Haley (Luke) Paige, both of Shellsburg, and Rita (Scott) Olson of Wheatland, Wyo., along with many other aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dog, Milo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linda and Gary Toman; grandmother, Linda Stoddard; and great-grandmother, Lynn Huber.
Matt was born April 24, 1989, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, son of Robert Toman and Lisa Stoddard-Wise. He was a proud journeyman for Ironworkers Local 89 and was recently awarded most outstanding apprentice. He also represented his Local (Union) in district, regional and national skills competitions, where he received several awards.
Matt was very musically gifted; he played guitar and sang. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially kayaking, hiking, geocaching, and riding his Harley. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and freinds. Matt was known as a notorious prankster among his family, friends and BROTHERS. He was very talented and excelled at everything he put his mind to.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Matt.
