Dr. William A. "Bill" Westphal, 73, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday,
Sept. 3, 2014, in Washing-ton. Celebra-tion of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating. Calling hours will begin at noon Thursday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County, the United Methodist Church or the Washington Golf and Country Club.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Westphal of Washington; daughter, Lisa Donnelly and husband Paul of West Des Moines; daughter, Christine Greaves and husband Scott of West Des Moines; grandchildren, Maxwell and Carolann Donnelly and Ethan, Emily, Jonathan, Richard, Tiffanie and Jacob Klement; sister, Vicki Vermedahl and husband Joe of Duncan, Okla.; stepdaughter, Lisa Waters of Washington; stepson, Jared Waters and wife Christina of Ainsworth; and stepgrandchildren, Cheyanne, Savannah, Sierra, Bryce, Katelyn and Jenna. Bill also is survived by his mother-in-law, Catherine Mattes of Washington; sister-in-law, Shirley Streb and husband Butch of Hills; sister-in-law, Kathleen Coleman and husband Ron of Urbandale; and brother-in-law, Ed Mattes and wife Joyce of Kalona.
