Lisa Dawn Helle, 47, of Ely, formerly of Denver, Iowa, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications of ovarian cancer.
Lisa was born Dec. 27, 1966, in Waterloo, Iowa, the
daughter of Laurance and Dorothy (Hambly) Fink. She was raised in Denver, where she was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in January 1967 and confirmed in April 1981. She graduated from the Denver High School in May 1985. Lisa then attended the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 1989.
On Aug. 19, 1989, Lisa was united in marriage to Steven Helle at St. John Lutheran Church in Denver. The couple would make their home in Des Moines, where Lisa worked from 1992 to 2007 at Wells Fargo. The couple then moved to Cedar Rapids and Lisa went to work for AEGON / Transamerica, where she worked until her health declined.
Lisa was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ely and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Denver. Her enjoyments included gardening, biking, camping, cooking, traveling, reading, sewing and watching her nieces and nephews play sports.
Lisa's memory is honored by her husband, Steve Helle of Ely; her mother, Dorothy Fink of Denver, Iowa; a brother, Mike Fink of Independence; a sister, Serena (Dana) Andrews of Jesup; mother-in-law, Rosie Helle; sister-in-law, Lori (Glen) Ries; and brothers-in-law, Jeff (Peggy) Helle, Dan (Anna) Helle and Greg Helle.
She was preceded in death by her father, Laurance, in 2002; father-in-law, Gregory Helle, in 2008; and brother-in-law, David Helle, in 2000.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at St. John Lutheran Church in Denver, with Pastor Larry Feldt officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 2, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver, with a private family service at 3:30 p.m. and greeting of friends from 4 to 8 p.m.
