CORALVILLE - Coralville police are looking for information after they say a man robbed and physically assaulted two people.
At 1:04 p.m. Monday, the Coralville Police Department responded to a reported robbery in the 700 block of First Avenue, according to a news release.
A single suspect, wearing a mask, approached a male and female, displayed a handgun and demanded they hand the suspect their money, police said. The man physically assaulted both victims and stole a wallet, according to the release.
The suspect is described as tall, thin and wearing black pants and a red shirt. He was last seen running south in the 600 block of First Avenue, according to the release.
The male and female were transported to a hospital after suffering minor injuries, police said.
Because the incident happened near Central Elementary School, the school was notified and additional officers were present when the school dismissed Monday afternoon. However, Coralville police said they did not believe there was any threat to the school.
The robbery remains under investigation, and Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Crime Stoppers can be reached at 358-8477.
