Gerald C. Kilts, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at his home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gerald was born Aug. 2, 1932, the son of Clarence and Garnet (Sells) Kilts, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On June 19, 1953, he married Patricia Dougherty. Gerald worked as a sheet metal worker for Quaker Oats before retiring in 1995.
He found great joy in bowling and raising his family.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Gerald Scott (Terri) Kilts; daughter, Donna (Matthew) Vesey; five grandchildren, Duane (Heather) Kilts, David (Alyson) Kilts, Joe Vesey, Melanie Vesey and Maggie Vesey; four siblings, Alan Kilts, Alyce Jane Klouse, Delores Zerbee and Bill Dougherty; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob; and sisters, Donna, Clarice and Darlene Betty.
