Iowa’s football guarantees from 2014-2018: $8.05 million

IOWA CITY - Iowa has a full football schedule over the next five years and needs only one opponent in 2019 and 2020.
According to documents received by The Gazette via state open-records laws, Iowa will pay more than $8 million in guarantees to opponents spanning the next five football seasons. This year, Iowa pays $550,000 to Northern Iowa and $900,000 to Ball State.
Iowa and Iowa State extended their non-conference contract through 2021, but neither school receives a payment. The visiting team formerly received 20 percent of the home gate, but that expired after the 2012 season.
Iowa receives $200,000 from Pittsburgh this year, mostly to reimburse travel expenses. Iowa pays Pittsburgh $200,000 for its trip to Kinnick Stadium in 2015.
The Hawkeyes' non-conference schedules are set through the 2018 season. In 2015, Iowa will pay North Texas $900,000 and Illinois State $500,000.
In 2016, Iowa pays Miami (Ohio) $1 million and North Dakota State $500,000. In 2017, Wyoming receives $1 million and North Texas $900,000. In 2018, Iowa pays Northern Illinois $1 million and Northern Iowa $600,000.
Miami (Ohio)'s 2019 trip to Kinnick Stadium costs Iowa $1.2 million. Northern Illinois comes to Iowa City in 2020 at a $1.1 million price tag.

2014: Aug. 30 - Northern Iowa; Sept. 6 - Ball State; Sept. 13 - Iowa State; Sept. 20 - at Pittsburgh
2015: Sept. 5 - Illinois State; Sept. 12 - at Iowa State; Sept. 19 - Pittsburgh; Sept. 26 - North Texas
2016: Sept. 3 - Miami (Ohio); Sept. 10 - Iowa State; Sept. 17 - North Dakota State
2017: Sept. 2 - Wyoming; Sept. 9 - at Iowa State; Sept. 16. - North Texas
2018: Sept. 1 - Northern Illinois; Sept. 8 - Iowa State; Sept. 15 - Northern Iowa
2019: Aug. 31 - Miami (Ohio); Sept. 14 - at Iowa State; (third opponent TBD)
2020: Sept. 5 - Northern Illinois; Sept. 12 - Iowa State; (third opponent TBD)
