Licht, Myrtle Irene Westcott Sedlacek
Myrtle Irene Westcott Sedlacek Licht, 99, of Clarence, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Victor Young of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Friday at the chapel.
Myrtle was born Dec. 29, 1910, in Mount Vernon, Iowa, to Samuel Alfred and Oleta Litts Westcott. She was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Joseph F. Sedlacek in January 1938 and they lived most of their married life in Cedar Rapids. Joe died in 1980. Myrtle married Martin H. Licht in 1988 and he died in 1995. Myrtle and Mr. Licht made their home at his family farm in Lowden, Iowa and wintered in Mesa, Ariz. Myrtle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Licht.
Survivors include a very dear and long time friend, Mrs. Gwendolyn Johnson, Amarillo, Texas; Gwen's daughter, Jill, and her children, James and Johnathon, also of Amarillo; and Gwen's son, Andrew, his wife, Dawn, and their son, Michael, of West Branch, Iowa. Other survivors include stepsons, Don and wife Sharon Licht, Rockford, Ill., Kenneth and wife Marilyn Licht, San Diego, Calif., Dennis and wife Karen Licht of Carmel, Ind., and Jeffrey Licht of Lowden.
