On this week's On Iowa Politics Podcast: This week: Branstad's back, Big 10 return, and the full Grassley
On Iowa Politics is a weekly news and analysis podcast that aims to re-create the kinds of conversations that happen when you get political reporters from across Iowa together after the day's deadlines have been met.
This week's show is hosted by The Gazette's James Lynch and features Gazette opinion editor Todd Dorman.
The show was produced by Stephen M. Colbert and music heard on the podcast is courtesy of Copperhead and Natalie Brown.
Sen. Chuck Grassley addresses constituents during a July 7 town hall at Columbus Junction City Hall in southeast Iowa. Grassley has visited Iowa's 99 counties once a year since 1981, a practice since dubbed the 'Full Grassley.' Critics say he avoids gatherings in urban 'blue' counties in favor of smaller, select audiences in places more in line with his Republican views. But the practice, Grassley's staff say, has become the gold standard of voter engagement in Iowa and around the country. (Liz Martin/The Gazette)
