Gilbert, Marilyn P.

Marilyn P. Gilbert, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home by Dr. Craig Bex. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Covington. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Phillip of Cedar Rapids, Larry (Sandra) of Ohio, and Richard (Sandra) of Manchester; grandchildren, Melissa Bemer, Mysty Bemer, Dawnel Lowther, Corie Duwe, Nicole Moore, Larry Bemer Jr., Phillip Bemer Jr., William Thurn and Frank Thurn; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, Aaron Ford of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sons, Gene and Randy Bemer; daughter-in-law, Jan Bemer; brother, Orran Ford; and sisters, Nina Bemer and Doris Hoffman.

Marilyn Peggy Gilbert was born July 12, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Wayne A. and Madge H. Taylor Ford. She married Donald Eugene Gilbert in Dubuque in 1970. She retired from Clean Towel Company after many years. She enjoyed gardening, and baking and cooking for all of her family and friends. She loved everyone dearly.

On Angel's wings of silver light, Marilyn's soul took to flight, carried up to Heaven's city of gold, reunited with family and friends of old. Marilyn is home in God's tender care, and in our time we will see her there.
