Fee, Jean Ellen
Jean Ellen Fee, 61, of Center Point-Urbana, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her home. Celebration of Jean's Life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Brenda S. Ehret of Unity Center, Cedar Rapids. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 7 p.m., before the service. Per Jean's wishes her body was cremated.
Jean is survived by her husband, James; two sons, Christopher (Sabrina) of Cedar Rapids and Matthew (Jillian) of North Liberty; grandson, Colton; brother, Jim (Wanda) Matus of Rescue, Calif.; two nephews, Mark and Michael Matus; and niece, Caroline (Doug) Hoffman and their son, Jacob; and special friends, Pat Schomburg and Helen Wertz.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Godfrey and Delphine Matus; and sister-in-law, Barb Matus.
Jean was born August 24, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Godfrey and Delphine (Pisney) Matus. She married James Fee on Dec. 12, 1970 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church. Jean worked at Physicians' Clinic of Iowa for 30 years as a nurse for Dr. Eyanson, Dr. Struthers and Dr. Krain.
To her friends and family, Jean was better known as “Jeanne.” A loving wife to her husband Jim, the couple were married for nearly 41 years. Jeanne took pride in her family, which extended beyond her husband and two sons to include many cousins, aunts and uncles, friends and neighbors. When her sons married, Jeanne felt blessed by the addition of their wives to the family, considering them to be the daughters she always wanted. Those who knew Jeanne will remember her with a smile on her face and a camera in her hand. Her life, and the lives of those she loved, has been well documented through the many photographs she took and shared.
Perhaps more than anything, Jeanne was a loving grandmother to her grandson, Colton. Though she only had two short years to spend with him, Jeanne took every opportunity she could to enrich Colton's life with books, games, toys and visits to the park and petting zoo.
A memorial fund has been established in Jean's name.
