Dot Pisney lost her best friend and the love of her life when Don died Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital of a long illness with COPD. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 20, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Services for Don will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Donald was born May 1, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and Olive (Sindelar) Pisney. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. Don was united in marriage to Dorothy "Dot" Justin on Sept. 5, 1959, at Kenwood Park Presby-terian Church.
Don farmed and worked in the construction trades, retiring out of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125.
One of Don's favorite hobbies was flying. He earned his pilot's license before he received his driver's license. Don enjoyed woodworking, organic gardening, baking bread, making beer, and his dogs.
Don is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Dorothy "Dot"; his daughter, Pam Hammers of Cedar Falls; his son, Edward (Karen) Pisney of Cedar Rapids; and his four grandchildren, Sam, Abby, Nathan and Zachary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law, Terry Hammers.
Memorials may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice in his name.
