Pierre A. Zegarra, 25, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday Nov. 27, 2018. Services are set for 10 a.m. on Friday Nov. 30, 2018, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City by the Rev. Rudolph Juarez. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah J. Zegarra of Cedar Rapids; his parents, Arturo (Carmen Diaz) Zegarra of Harrison, Tenn., and Dora (Roger) Whitlock of Riverside, Iowa; his siblings; Arthur Zegarra, Emmanuel Zegarra, Diana (Orlando Almonte) Zegarra and Gabriella (Irving Maldonado) Zegarra, all of Harrison, Tenn.; his grandparents; Ramiro Cabezudo and Betty Herrera of Peru. Also surviving is his mother-in-law; Janis Staed of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and father-in-law, Arthur (Susan) Staed of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and his loving families in the United States and in Peru.
Pierre was born Feb. 19, 1993, in Ica, Peru, the son of Arturo and Dora (Cabezudo) Zegarra. Pierre was employed with U.S. Cellular in Iowa City. He enjoyed concerts, comedy and music. Pierre had a love for traveling and an endless bucket list. The last items he fulfilled were traveling to the World Cup to see Peru, attending his sister Gabriella's wedding and marrying the love of his life, Sarah. Pierre was a kind and selfless soul, always being positive and a friend to anyone he encountered.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday Dec. 9, 2018, at Gus' Food & Spirts in Coralville from 2 to 6 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Gray Warriors or directed to the family.
