SCOTT ALAN HOLTON
Central City
On July 4, 2016, Scott A. Holton, 58, of Central City. passed away.
Scott was born Sept. 8, 1957. Scott's parents were Harold E. and Edna Holton from Bolingbrook, Ill. He attended Romeoville High School, where he was in the marching band.
After school, Scott joined and was a proud U.S. Marine. After becoming disabled in the Marines, Scott went to Phoenix, Ariz., to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, where he was such an amazing mechanic that the school hired him to teach the Engine Rebuild and Performance program. It was at MMI that he met his wife, Deb – she ran away with the teacher! Shortly afterward they were married and moved to Madison, Va., where a year later, in 1998, they were blessed with their one and only son, Jack.
In 2000, Scott hired on at J&P Cycles in Anamosa. For 15 years, he was senior sales technician. He was the go-to guy for all things motorcycle! He built his own motorcycle starting with some wheels he bought on clearance! He loved all kinds of racing, but particularly landspeed racing, and was thrilled to have had the opportunity to be on the J&P Cycles Crew when they raced their streamliner at Bonneville salt flats.
Though his first passion was motorcycles, he dabbled in all kinds of cool hobbies. Scott loved all kinds of music, but really enjoyed the blues. He even built a couple of his own guitars!
Recently he proudly became a 3rd Degree Mason with Level Lodge 284 in Central City. Another one of his very most favorite things was playing Santa Claus for the kids everywhere he went!
Above all else, Scott adored his son, Jack. He was such a proud father and can rest peacefully knowing that Jack will be a good husband, father, friend and co-worker because of his positive influences.
Scott called his wife, Deb, every day to tell her he loved her, just like his dad did every day to his mom.
Along with Deb and Jack, he leaves behind to miss and cherish his memories, his sister-in-law, Heather Jennings; nieces, Dustine Alderton and Porsche and Brittany Jennings; along with an adorable clan of great- nieces and great-nephews all from Virginia.
Scott's fur children, Lily, Lucy and Dexter will miss his warm lap and beard food. During Scott's amazing journeys and adventures in life, he crossed paths with hundreds of "brothers and sisters" and cherished his giant "non-blood" family.
To celebrate Scott's memory, there will be a visitation at United Church of Christ in Central City on Friday, July 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Juy 9, at the church.
