Rosanne K. Beard, 66, of Iowa City, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in Rosanne's memory to Iowa City Hospice, Pheasant's Forever or the Alzheimer's Association.

Rosanne K. Martin was born Oct. 4, 1943, in Pecatonica, Ill., the daughter of Mervin and Elsie (Zink) Martin. She married Gerald “Gerry” Beard on Oct. 16, 1965, in Pecatonica. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Iowa City where Rosanne worked at the Press-Citizen for many years. Rosanne enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved to cook, tend to her garden and flowers, and bowled on numerous leagues throughout the years. She would be the first to brag about her favorite granddaughter Caity (her only grandchild), and spent all of her marriage caring for the love of her life, Gerry.

Her family includes her husband, Gerry; son, Jeff (Tammy) Beard of Avon, Ind.; granddaughter, Caitlyn Beard; daughter, Jeanine Stennitt of Chariton; and brother, Richard (Sharon) Martin of Fox Lake, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Nelda Daer.
