Harold Iver Sondrol, 78, died peacefully Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Mercy Hospice House in Cedar Rapids.
No services will be held per Harold's request.
Harold is survived by his brother, Iver; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iver and Evelyn; and sister, Trudy.
Harold was born May 23, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Washington High School, Oberlin College and Washington University in St. Louis, where he received his master's degree. He held a variety of jobs, including teaching, retailing and general labor.
Iver will be at the family home, 322 Liberty Dr. SE, Cedar Rapids, from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, for those who wish to visit or share stories.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice House, where he received outstanding care during his final day.
