Stahr, Henry J.G. 'Butch'
Henry J. G. “Butch” Stahr, 63, of 100 Austin St. SW, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at his home in the loving arms of his wife after a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy; two sons, Jodie of Reno, Nev., and Henry L. of Hiawatha; his mother, Caroline, and sister, Robby (Albert) Jones, both of Des Moines; and a sister - in- law and brother-in-law, Judee and Lyle Noeller of Farmington.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Livinia.
Butch was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Stockton, Calif., the son of Henry J. and Caroline (Patterson) Stahr. He married Trudy L. Evans on June 14, 1969, in Marion. Butch worked for the City of Cedar Rapids in traffic engineering for over 39 years, retiring in 2008.
Butch was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, History Club, the Civil War Round Table in Cedar Rapids and was previously a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed reading, fishing, cowboys, and the Wild West.
Butch was a very patriotic man who loved his country and his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
