Douglas L. Kron, 54, of Hills, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at home, following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hills with Father Michael Spiekermeier officiating. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, the Doug Kron Memorial Fund has been established.
Doug was born Nov. 3, 1959, in Iowa City, the son of William and Evelyna Cole Kron Sr. He was a 1978 graduate of West High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. Doug was a welder, a master manipulator of molten metal. He also delivered DX fuel to farmers for many years.
Doug was a member of St. Joseph's Church and Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 125. He loved to hunt and play a good game of cards. Doug was a proud father and will be greatly missed.
Doug is survived by his three sons, Alex Kron of
Orlando, Fla., Nicholas Kron of West Des Moines and Will Kron of Solon; his stepson, Adam Nelson-Ockenfels of Solon; two brothers, Bill (Deb) Kron of West Branch and Steve (Amy) Kron of Iowa City; and his former spouses, Elyse Shindelar of West Des Moines and Roseanne Ockenfels of Solon.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tresa.
