Lehmeier, Richard L.
Richard L. Lehmeier, 78, of Tipton, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 114 Elizabeth Drive in Tipton. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Tipton United Methodist Church, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Paul Frederiksen will officiate.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Daniel) Hurt of Marion, a son, Kenneth (Shelly) of Loveland, Colo.; and his significant other, Carol Maxwell of Tipton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian and Kyle Peters and Keith and Craig Lehmeier; and three great grandchildren, Addilyn, Jayden and Grace Peters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Robert.
Dick was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Iowa Falls, the son of Paul and Vivian Nolte Lehmeier. He married Paula Ewing; she later died in 1999.
Dick was the senior vice president of the Tipton State Bank (U.S. Bank), retiring from there after 28 years of service.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tipton, Tipton Rotary Club, and charter president of the Tipton Optimist Club. He enjoyed golf, travel, fishing, delivering motor homes, wintering in Florida and Arizona and especially the time he spent with his beloved family and many friends.
Memorial donations may be given to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, First United Methodist Church in Tipton or to Fire Around the World.
