Nolte, Lloyd
Lloyd Nolte, 78, of Norway, died Oct. 14, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown, with Father Brian Dellaert officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery near Watkins, with graveside military rites conducted by Norway American Legion Post 234. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Blairstown, where the casket will remain closed at all times in accordance with Lloyd's wishes.
Lloyd was born Feb. 13, 1933, to Leo and Madeline (Klein) Nolte in Watkins. He was united in marriage to Joyce Schulte on Sept. 25, 1958, in Fairfax. Lloyd was a lifelong farmer in the Norway area and also served on the Norway school board.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Norway; one son, Russell (Rita) Nolte of Watkins; three daughters, Joni (Edward) Thoman and Mary Meyer, both of Norway, and Angela (John Rotter) Nolte of Watkins; five grandchildren, Dakota and Garrett Nolte, Melissa and Mark Thoman and Ami Meyer; one brother, Bill (Rosann) Nolte of Cedar Rapids; and three sisters, Kathleen Cronin of California, Hilda Altmaier of Iowa City and Dorothy (Dan) Hingtgen of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Nolte; and two brothers, Virgil and Robert Nolte.
A memorial fund has been established.
