Johnson County extends permit for Celebration Barn wedding venue

The Johnson County Board of Adjustment voted unanimously on Wednesday night to allow Celebration Barn to continue operating through the summer.
County officials initially denied the permit renewal because the property isn't zoned for commercial use. That would have forced the owner to shut down operations in June, nixing a handful of special events planned at the venue.
The round barn located north of Iowa City is a popular spot for weddings and other functions. Wednesday night's permit renewal allows the venue to stay open for “special events” through October of this year.
