PAULINE STONER

Pauline S. Stoner, 84, formerly of rural Solon, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with a time of visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Pauline's memory.

Pauline Stella Hill was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Iowa City, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Rowland) Hill. She attended schools in Iowa City graduating from City High School with the class of 1947. On June 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Richard Wesley Stoner at the First Congregational Church in Iowa City.
The couple raised their family on their farm near North Liberty. Through the years, she also worked at S.S. Kresge Five and Dime store, Pepperidge Farms and was a caregiver for a number of families caring for the elderly.
Pauline loved the outdoors, nature, animals, her gardens, flowers, especially roses, and listening and watching the birds with the cardinals her favorite. She was known to make some very delicious pies, with pecan and lemon meringue being at the top of the list for her family.
She loved her family as they loved her, as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, there was nothing she loved to hear more than Grandma! She was a dear angel on earth and now is one of God's best!
Her family includes her two sons and their wives, Richard Jr. and Patti Stoner of Solon, and Mike and Gatana Stoner of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Sonya Moses and her husband, Korie, Brannan Stoner and his wife, Kristi, Matt Stoner and Mitch Stoner and his wife, Maggie; seven great-grandchildren, Ashton, Alexis and his wife, Andenn, Brogan and his wife, Kalani, and Wes, Ben, Carissa and Dylan; two stepgrandchildren, Chelsea Jones and fiance Chris Thede and Adri Mullin and significant other Bobby Trimble; stepgreat-granddaughters, Hanna and Billie Jo Mullin; and Pauline's sister-in-law, Carol Hill of Fresno, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and brother, Paul Hill.
