Robert A. Nye, 58, of Iowa City, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A celebration of life will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Iowa City Moose Family Center, 3151 U.S. Highway 6, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital Fund.
Bob was born in Iowa City on Sept. 29, 1956, and grew up in Coralville, the son of William and Catherine (Moseley) Nye. He was an IT specialist for 25 years with IAC, Iowa City.
Bob had the gift of gab and never met a stranger he couldn't tell his stories to. He loved to restore old cars and in his younger years enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Bob is survived by his son, Bryan Hamilton of Iowa City; his twin grand-children, Kryslinn and Kaiden; seven siblings, William Nye II of Cantrall, Ill., Cathy Nye of Evergreen, Colo., Susan Eggert (Jeff) of Conway, Ark., Jim Nye of Coralville, Jerry Nye of Coralville, Tom Nye of Oak Park, Calif., and Don Nye of Iowa City; his aunt, Phyllis Rowland of Bettendorf; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Marjorie; and uncle, Jerry.
