MARVIN G. SMITH

Marvin G. Smith, 80, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with his Lord and family on Friday, June 30, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the community room of Meadows Apartments at a later date. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty Jean (Watson) Smith; four children; nine grandchildren; sister, Patricia Rowland; three brothers: his twin, Melvin D. (Sandy), and Charles and Bernard (Glenda) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Poo-chi and Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Evelyn (Birdsell) Smith; sister, Beverly Hawkins; brothers, Ernest, Richard and Robert Smith; and his mother- and father-in-law.
Marvin was born Sept. 30, 1936, in Macomb, Ill. He was employed as a baker for many years at Sykora Bakery. Marvin enjoyed fishing and repairing lawn mowers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Marvin's family or the Alzheimer's Association.
