Greiner, Darlene M.
Darlene M. Greiner, 87, of Keota, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.
Darlene was born March 12, 1925, in Harper, to William J. and Theresa Frances (Sondag) Clarahan and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School. On Jan. 22, 1946, she married James P. Greiner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. The couple lived in the Talleyrand area. Darlene moved into Keota in 1976.
Survivors include eight children, Hubert (Melissia) Greiner of Keota, Janice (Ray) Doud of Schaumburg, Ill., Eugene (Karen) Greiner of Harper, Leon (Toni) Greiner of Keota, Linda (Terry) Powers of Ottumwa, Joyce (Charles) Dayton of Marion, Marlene Greiner of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Marion (Lisa) Greiner of Indian Trail, N.C.; son-in-law, Don Rowland of Ottumwa; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1971; daughter, Diana Rowland; and two brothers, Kenneth Clarahan and Elmer Clarahan in infancy.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Clear Creek Township. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be an Altar and Rosary Society rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a wake service following.
A memorial fund has been established for Macular Degeneration research or Holy Trinity Parish.
