Wood, Delores Mae
Delores Mae Wood, 85, of 110 Mitchell St. SW, Cedar Rapids, most recently of Silver Pines, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Edmond Powers. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Tommy (Nancy) Wood of Jensen Beach, Fla., Jerry (Jan) Wood of Swisher, Kerry Sue (David) Dlouhy of Cedar Rapids and Larry Wood of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Tammi and Tasha, Erik and Wendee, Amanda, Zac and Kendra; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are a sister, Marilyn Gillingham of Oelwein; and four brothers, Fred (Joyce) Damon of Tama, Toby (Betty) Damon of Oelwein, Robert (Gen) Damon of Oelwein and Aaron (Denise) Damon of Pekin, Ill.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Bud and George; and two sisters, Midge and Irene.
Delores was born Sept. 15, 1924, the daughter of Ralph and Fern (Woodward) Damon, in Oelwein. On May 12, 1945, she married Archie Eli Wood Jr. He died in December 1998.
Delores was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, cooking, reading, fishing, gardening, the Iowa Hawkeyes and San Diego Chargers.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in memory of Delores.
