Mastin Jr., Albert Lee
Albert Lee Mastin Jr., 83, of Mountain Home, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Baxter Regional Medical Center, Mountain Home. Funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home at a later date to be announced.
He was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Albert Mastin Sr. and Helen Holmes Mastin. He served his country during World War II in the Navy Seabees and was a member of the Fighting Fortieth Seabees. He married his high school sweetheart, Wava Buckwheat on Oct. 18, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the Methodist faith and a lifelong member of the VFW. He enjoyed bowling and played softball into his 40s. He was an avid fisherman (walleyes), a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan and a friend to everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wava Mastin of Mountain Home; a son, Donald Mastin of Mountain Home; seven grandchildren, Blaine (Valerie) Mastin, Travis (Cheryl) Mastin, Tracy Mastin, Mike Mastin, Kasey Mastin, Lacy Mastin and Matthew Mastin; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner and Keegan Mastin, Jamie Mastin, Cameron Waggoner, Dalton and Colton Mastin, Kelli and Shelli Emig; a great-great-grandchild, DaShawn Flowers; two sisters, Helen Bruner of Cedar Rapids and Ruth Powers of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a brother, Terry Mastin of Mountain Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean Mastin; and sister, Alberta Johnson.
