Umbdenstock, Dean Milo
Dean Milo Umbdenstock, 83, of Montour, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama, with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Montour. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama.
Dean was born on March 9, 1926, in Toddville, Iowa, the son of Milo Paul and Frances Josephine (Noska) Umbdenstock. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Dean was united in marriage to Clarice Holmes on Nov. r 19, 1949, at the Montour Methodist Church. Dean and Clarice farmed all of their married life. They had lived north of Toledo and east of Tama, ultimately settling in the Montour area for over 50 years. Dean was a hard worker and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, hunting and outdoor activities. He also liked his daily coffee club.
Survivors include one son, Michael (Susan) Umbdenstock of Montour; two daughters, Connie (Larry) Warnell of Marshalltown, and Deanna (Chuck) Powers of State Center; four grandchildren, Shelly Brownfield, Amy Groomes, Hunter Umbdenstock and Cassidy Umbdenstock; four great-grandchildren, Makayle, Philip, Clarissa and Caleb; one brother, Robert (Marion) Umbdenstock of Vinton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clarice in 1994; and a brother, George.
