Adams, Richard E.
Richard E. Adams, 71, of Delhi, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at his home on Lake Delhi following a lengthy illness. Public graveside services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A memorial gathering will be held at the Cedar Memorial Family Center & Library immediately following the graveside service. Cedar Memorial is assisting the family.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marilyn; sons, David, Dean and Dwayne, all of Delhi, and Darrell and special friend Jennifer Powers of Dubuque; brother, John Adams (Nancy) of Guttenberg; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mallie Adams.
Richard E. Adams was born Nov. 20, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of John and Mallie (BrakeBill) Adams. He served one enlistment in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 31, 1959, Richard married Marilyn Beck in Vinton. He worked as a grain inspector for Cedar Rapids Grain Inspection Service for many years, enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan.
