Camillo "Cam" Louise Wood, 92, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with the Rev. Stephen K. Preus
officiating. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Family Center (605 Second Ave.) in Vinton.
Memorials may be directed to the Vinton Lutheran Home or Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Fayette.
Cam was born July 14, 1923, in Rochester, Minn., to Luther E. and Louise (Raddatz) Stepp. She graduated from Harpers Ferry High School and then Paris Acadamy, now known as Capri. On April 17, 1964, she was united in marriage to Joe Wood Sr. in Blair, Neb.
Cam owned and operated a hair salon in Vinton for 27 years. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Vinton Lutheran Home Auxilliary. She also served as a volunteer at the Lutheran Home for many years.
In her leisure time, Cam enjoyed quilting, oil painting and gardening. Cam also was a member of the Federal Garden Club. Cam was honored to receive the "Circle of Roses" award presented to her by the state of Iowa.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Pat) Powers of Vinton and Jay (Angie) Wood of Hinkley, Ohio; stepchildren, Joe Wood Jr. and his friend, Judy, Lavonne Paulson, Wanita Karnupp, Edward (Roxie) Wood, Loren (Laura) Wood and Sharon Alsop; four grandchildren, Michele Sauer, Shane Powers, Allison Wood and Mitchell Wood; 11 stepgrand-children; several great- and stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delores, Betty and Theresa; and brother-in-law, Leo.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepgrandson, Dennis Paulson; and brothers, James Stepp and Vernon Stepp.
