Klaren, Sally
Sally Klaren, 82, of Hopkinton, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at her home following an extended illness. Private family services will be held Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.

Surviving are five children, Christopher (Sharon) of Waterloo, Thomas (Julie) of Cedar Rapids, Sara Klaren, Sean Klaren, both of Hopkinton, and Isabelle Klaren, Iowa City; four grandchildren, Brian, Joy, Derek and Elizabeth; and a great-grandson, Kayson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hauptli and Mary Lee Hostert.
Sara Geneive Powers was born Dec. 26, 1929, at Bakersfield, Calif. She was the daughter of Walter R. and Isabelle Shaffer Powers. She graduated from St. Martins Catholic School in Cascade. Sally then went on to attend Mercy School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids. She later worked at Xavier Hospital in Dubuque. Sara Geneive Powers and Marvin Klaren were married Sept. 29, 1953, at St. Martins Catholic Church, Cascade. The couple farmed near Hopkinton until 1954, when they moved to Hopkinton.
