Rusch, Hazel L.
Hazel L. Rusch, 78, of 302 Waverly, Ottumwa, died Monday, March 1, 2010 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Ottumwa to Sidney and Irene Richards Carman. She married Robert Gene Rusch April 9, 1949. He preceded her in death June 6, 1998.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1949, she worked for Fishers Grocery on East Main St. for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (Loren) Barnhart of Marion and Ruth (Duane) Grau of Cedar Rapids; a son, Robert L. (Lisa) Rusch of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Watson of Pleasant Plain; and a brother, Glen Carmen of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Grau; a brother, Alfred Caremen; two sisters, Donna Funk and Helen Marshall.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will start after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society or to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
