Hazel D. Block, 94, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, with her family. A private family service will be held.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Sharon) Block and James (Cindy) Block; granddaughters, Rachelle, Marissa, Erika and Andrea; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Block; son, William C. Block; her parents; and three siblings.
Hazel was born in Chicago. She moved to Cedar Rapids at a young age. She graduated from Coe College and went on to teach in the College Community School District. While married to Walter Block, she was active in many religious and civic organizations. After the death of her husband, she moved to Minneapolis to live with her son, James, and his wife, Cindy.
Memorials may be directed to Temple Judah, Mercy Medical Center or Orchestra Iowa.
