McClintock, Hazel Margaret (Hagan)
Hazel Margaret (Hagan) McClintock, 100, a resident of Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg, died Feb. 28, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Shellsburg Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Mike Andrew officiating. Interment will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 East Sixth St.) in Vinton.
Hazel was born March 20, 1911, to Joseph and Minnie (Beatty) Hagan, north of Atkins on Bloomsbury Farms. She graduated from Shellsburg High School and attended Iowa State College, Ames. Hazel was united in marriage to Lyle McClintock on Jan. 23, 1932, at Ames. Lyle preceded Hazel in death in 1976.
In her leisure Hazel enjoyed traveling, quilting and being active in the community. She enjoyed membership in the Cedar Rapids Quilt Guild, Friendship Quilters, Shellsburg Sorosis Club, Neighborly Neighbors, Canton Township Homemakers and the Shellsburg Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, taught Sunday school, and was active in Presbyterian Women.
Most of all, Hazel loved her family and especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Hazel is survived by her three children, Ann (Kenneth) Krug of Atkins, Paul (Rhonda) McClintock of Shellsburg and Vernon (Connie) McClintock of Vinton; her eight grandchildren, Stephen (Rhonda) Krug of Atkins, Julie Krug of Cedar Rapids, Shannon (Robert) Miller of Van Meter, Heather (Brad) Fox of Amana, Ryan (Kelli) McClintock of Shellsburg, Melinda McClintock of Vinton, Christa McClintock of Van Meter and Jonathan (Amanda) McClintock of Chicago; her 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her two brothers, Chester and Kenneth Hagan, and one sister, Gladys Kempf.
Memorials may be directed to the family or given to a charity of the donors' choice.
