Hazel M. Oliphant, 89, of Toddville, passed away surrounded by her family at her home Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014. Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Center Point Road Church of Christ. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the church. Burial: Oliphant Cemetery, rural Toddville.
Hazel Marie (Sinkey) Oliphant was born Dec. 11, 1924, to her parents, Howard R. and Della B. (Millard) Sinkey. After graduating from Central City High School, she married Darwin I. (Sock) Oliphant on Jan. 23, 1944. She was employed at Oliphant Engineering and Construction and Collins Radio where she worked on electronics for the Apollo mission. Hazel was a member of the Toddville Church of Christ and American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Zonna (Barry) Bonar, Lonnie (Janene) Oliphant and Nina (Larry) Williams; grandchildren, Dr. Kelly T. (Kim) Bonar, Tracy L. (Jodi) Bonar, Tina M. (Kale) McBurney, Daniel P. Oliphant, Jenna R. Oliphant, Holly J. Williams, Sara J. (Tony) Millius and Lucas R. (Chelsea) Williams; great-grandchildren, Ben, Matthew (Kristin), Zachary (Megan), Kaleb, Kean, Kalina, Catelyne, Abagail, Alec, Kersten, Kayla, Addison and Lexi; sister, Donna Albin of Central City; sister-in-law, Delores Sinkey of Central City; and many nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Loleta Carpenter; grandson, Peter Carpenter; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Bonar; brother, Darrell Sinkey; and brother-in-law, Keith Albin.
Memorials in Hazel's memory may be made to Camp Courageous or Autism Speaks.
