Senators should send a clear message on Trump’s conduct

My brother, a U.S. Army Veteran, died recently. He was laid to rest with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute. That our former president would bestow the same honor upon himself is not only inappropriate, it is despicable.
Our former president is not only a draft-dodger, but a pathological liar and instigator of violence against democracy. He has accepted no responsibility nor expressed remorse for any of his actions or inactions. Instead, he pats himself on the back.
Anyone who has served in the military, including Sen. Joni Ernst, should be appalled by this behavior. I implore her and Sen. Chuck Grassley to vote to convict the impeached president. Tax dollars should not pay his pension or pay for his protection, or protection for his adult children. Above all, heshould never again be allowed to run for office.
Send a clear message. Impeachment is not divisive. It is preventative. The only military honor deserving of our former president is the sound of 'Taps” playing on his political career.
