CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announced Friday the addition of Jake Obermeyer as an assistant coach for the club.
Obermeyer played in the United States Hockey League for the Tri-City Storm and played six seasons of professional hockey in the Central Hockey League. Most recently, he has been a member of the coaching staff for the North American Hockey League's Wenatchee Wild.
'The RoughRiders organization is very excited to welcome Jake, (wife) Courtney and their son Tucker to Cedar Rapids,' said RoughRiders Head Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. 'Jake has some great experience in the game, he was a defenseman in the USHL, was part of a strong Robert Morris program and also played pro hockey. He's played for and worked with some very good coaches along the way, most recently under Coach Littler and his staff,' he added. 'We feel fortunate to round out our coaching staff with a coach with Jake's character, knowledge and work ethic, as well as his experience in the game.'
