Belden, Mary Alberta

Mary Alberta Belden, 76, of Marion, reunited with her husband on their anniversary date, Jan. 28. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m. The family also will greet guests one hour before the Mass at the church on Monday. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Brian Belden, Valerie (Bill) Terpstra, Lori (Dave Hartman) Scott, Lisa (Jerry) Kimm; grandchildren, Nicole (Ryan) Norton, and Ashley, Melissa, and Brooke Kimm; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kobe Norton; sister, Sheilah (Chuck) Clark; and sister-in-law, Vi (Larry) Krull.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Belden; great-grandchild, Aiden Norton; three brothers; and two sisters.

Mary was born March 28, 1936, in Wadena, Iowa, the daughter of Clement and Nadine (O'Hallaron) Messerli. She married Wayne Belden on Jan. 28, 1956, in Wadena. Wayne died Oct. 17, 1993. Mary worked for Rockwell Collins for over 25 years.

She was a very crafty person, and enjoyed bingo and bowling. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, and was an eye donor for the Iowa Lions Club and encouraged others to do the same. Most of all, Mary greatly loved her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, or to a charity of your choice in Mary's memory.
