Leonard, Robert Norton

Robert Norton Leonard, 93, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Solon Nursing Care Center with his wife and family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A time of visitation will take place one hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, near Tiffin.

He was born May 21, 1919, the son of Mabel (French) and Arnie Leonard. Farming was his passion, he farmed north of Tiffin for over 58 years. He worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in housekeeping, retiring in 1983.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathryn Leonard and his eight children, Glen Leonard, Duane (Jo) Leonard of Des Moines, Wanda (Tom) Tompkins of Surprise, Ariz., Betty (Bob) Alfrey of Lewisberry, Pa., Gary Leonard of Marengo, Dale Leonard of North Liberty, Margie (Ron) Gruver of Hummelstown, Pa., and Brenda (Rex) Johnson of Oxford Junction.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Joseph Koblassa; sister, Vera; and grandson, Ryan Johnson.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City is caring for Robert's family and his services.
