William Norton, 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, with
military honors. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; four children, Marcia (Lee) O'Brien, Shane (Tara) Norton, Rita (Josh) Schmit and Billy (Mandy) Norton, all of Monticello; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Steve (Carol) Norton, Cedar Rapids, Denny (Linda) Norton, Hiawatha, and Sandra (Bob) Brunscheen, Clarence; and a sister-in-law, Luanne Norton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don; and a great-grandchild, Kasey O'Brien.
Bill graduated from Anamosa High School in 1963 and went on to serve in the United States Army. Bill married Dorothy Harms on Dec. 16, 1967, at S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Castle Grove.
In more recent years, Bill was employed at Mid-Western Bio-Ag in Monticello and Lumber Specialties in Dyersville.
He was a member of the Anamosa American Legion and the Monticello Fire Department from 1989 until 2001 and was an Honor Flight recipient in May 2014. Bill has been the heart and soul of Norton Racing the past 15 years.
