Vision Iowa Board doesn't act on Cedar Rapids' $3 million request
Sep. 14, 2011 1:52 pm
The state's Vision Iowa Board did not decide Wednesday on the city's request for a $3 million Community Attraction and Tourism, or CAT, grant to support the city's library project and the NewBo City Market project.
Mayor Ron Corbett, who attended the board's meeting in Des Moines, said the city now expected its request to be evaluated by the board next month.
At the start of the year, the city had submitted an application to the state board for an $8 million grant, with $5 million of the request to be used for the city's Convention Complex project.
However, the governor is providing less funding to the CAT program than had earlier been thought, so the city scaled back its request to $3 million, without any of the possible funding going to the Convention Complex project.
