MERLE EDWARD PILLARD

Merle Edward Pillard, 77, of Central City, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015. Per Merle's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at American Legion Wapsi Post No. 421 in Central City. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Cora; his children, Merle Pillard Jr., Carolyn (Steve) House, Robert (Susan) Pillard, Elizabeth (Mike) Jossie, Margaret (David) Lincoln, Barbara (Terry) Goranson, Leonard (Missy) Pillard and Michael (Trudi) Pillard; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jean Smith and Joan (Jeff) Dudrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Pillard; and sisters, Mary Eiben and Betty Dennis.
Merle was born April 8, 1938, in Prairieburg, Iowa, to Fay and Mary (Crowley) Pillard. He married Cora Ann Brokaw on Jan. 25, 1955, in Monticello. Merle was a cement mason with Local No. 561 for 30 years and retired in 1996.
