Indee Motor Speedway honors service members

INDEPENDENCE - Independence Motor Speedway plans to honor American military personnel on Armed Forces Day.

Current military members and veterans will receive free grandstand admission to the track's weekly race program Saturday by showing their service identification card. The track will also hold a ceremony during the evening's race, saluting those in the service and encourage active members to wear their uniform.

Festivities will kick off with former Marine Dennis Halverson, of The Dennis Wayne Gang, performing his song "American" during a tribute, and the National Anthem.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps set for 6 and followed by opening ceremonies and racing. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Admission for students ages 12 to 17 is $7 with children 11 and younger admitted free with an adult.
