Carol Jean Lewis, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on May 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Per Carol's request, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Carol was born on Nov. 20, 1946, to Melvin and Berniece (Beery) Muth in Mason City, Iowa. On May 18, 1968, she was united in marriage to Leon Lewis. She worked as an accountant for the Benton Community School District for many years before retiring in 2013.
Carol loved to spend her time with her family playing card games. She loved her Cubbies and the Hawkeyes, just like her mother. Carol also enjoyed bowling, computer games, Sudoku, reading and coloring. One of her favorite things to do was go on road trips with Leon. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and her four-legged grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Leon; their two children, Melinda (David) Boyles of Cedar Rapids and James (Traci) Lewis of North Liberty; two grandchildren, Travis Lewis and Katee McKnight; her brothers, Roger and Fred (Linda) Muth; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Muth. She is also survived by her special friend, Janet Hurst.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Ruth; brother, Ralph Muth; and grandson, Matthew Boyles.
