Cedar Rapids school nurse named Iowa Nurse of the Year

From the Cedar Rapids school district:

Cedar Rapids Community School District nurse, Laura Wheeler, has been named the 2011 Iowa School Nurse of the Year by the Iowa School Nurse Organization. Wheeler supports students as the school nurse at Cleveland, Jackson, and Truman elementary schools. The annual award recognizes a nurse who demonstrates excellence in school nursing practice and leadership in school health.

Wheeler's nomination was highlighted by letters of support from parents and co-workers, spotlighting her contributions and commitment to the District.

“Laura is a dedicated professional who has impacted the students and school community in many ways,” said Connie Barry, Chair of the selection committee. “She is a true role model for school nurses in Iowa.”
