Sopousek, Carol Ann
Carol Ann Sopousek, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Graveside Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Mel Ramos. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; daughters, Mary (John) Elliott of Mansfield, Ga., Cathi (Randy) Havel and Lisa McAtee, both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Ellen Bean, Bobby Bean, Patrick Elliott, Chris Elliott, Brianna McAtee and Jamie Havel; sister-in-law, Teresa Sopousek; and granddog, Radar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Rawson; and granddog, Scooby.
Carol was born Jan. 13, 1934, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Lorimer) Watt, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On May 10, 1952, she was united in marriage to Frank Sopousek at St. Wenceslaus Rectory in Cedar Rapids. Carol worked for U.S. West, retiring after 20 years of service.
Carol was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #788, CWA Eastern Iowa Retired Members Chapter and the Telephone Pioneers.
Carol's joys were her family, computer refunding, recipes and gambling.
A memorial fund has been established in Carol's memory.
