Carol Ann Jansen, 77, of Marion, died Saturday, May 2, 2015. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at First Presbyterian Church in Marion by the Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle DeVries of Charles City; her son, Mike Jansen of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Lee and son, Jack, and Matt (Josslynn) Lovik of Charles City; and her aunt, Ruth (Lavern) Shafter of Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Carol was born July 2, 1937, the daughter of Michael and Delores (Westmeier) Leytem in Monticello. She worked as a paralegal for Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC before retiring.
Carol was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion where she was involved with Helping Hands, the quilting and sewing group and the bell choir. She also volunteered for the FLY program. Carol played in three bands, Kirkwood Band, Dixie Notes Plus and New Horizons Band.
Carol was very dedicated to her animals. She had many cocker spaniels and cats. Sam, her dog will greatly miss her as well as her cats, Lilly and Jazmine.
