Jul. 28, 2010 9:55 pm
Cedar Rapids teenage race car driver Joey Gase will get a chance to take the track in the last big race weekend at Newton's Iowa Speedway.
According to a member of Gase's race team, Gase has been asked to drive a car for Benny Gordon Racing during Friday night's USARacing Pro Cup Blue Ox 150, which opens the weekend featuring the NASCAR Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 on Saturday. Tickets for the USAR Pro Cup race start at $20 for lower grandstand tickets. The NASCAR Nationwide event begins at 6:30 p.m. July 31 with tickets starting at $55.
Gase, 17, a student at Cedar Rapids Xavier, was the youngest late model season points champion at Hawkeye Downs Speedway last summer. He last competed at Iowa Speedway in ARCA Series Prairie Meadows 200 on July 10.
