CEDAR RAPIDS - Between the evening hours of Wednesday night and Thursday morning, three burglaries took place within several blocks of one another in the City of North Liberty.
Police Chief Jim Warkentin said in a press release that the general locations of the homes were in the 900 block of Fairview Lane, the 400 block of Sugar Creek Lane and the 800 Block of Prairie Ridge Road.
According to the release, one of the burglarized homes was entered by pulling the screen off an open window. The other two homes were entered either through an open garage door or an unlocked door.
In all three cases, the residents were home at the time of the burglaries. One resident scared off an intruder from their residence at approximately 12:32 a.m. by yelling and then calling 911. The other two incidents were not discovered until this morning.
No residents were harmed during the burglary and all remain under investigation at this time. Assistance had been provided to the North Liberty Police Department by the Coralville Police Department and its K-9 unit.
A vehicle was taken from the garage of one of the residences but was later recovered several blocks away.
Warkentin and the North Liberty Police Department would like to remind all residents that they should always keep their homes and vehicles secured.
Any residents who might have seen anything in this area are asked to call the Iowa City Crime Stoppers at 354-TIPS (8477).
