The alleged culprit in a Coralville bank robbery is now suspected of robbing a Marion bank 11 days earlier this past May.
According to a Marion Police Department news release, officers have obtained an arrested warrant for Jennifer Lee Redmond, 34, of Marion. She faces one count of second-degree robbery.
Redmond is accused of walking into the Farmers State Bank in Marion on May 13 and robbing it at gunpoint. She then fled the scene in a white SUV-type vehicle.
On May 24, police said Redmond robbed the U.S. Bank in Coralville. Redmond allegedly aimed a pistol at a teller and gave the teller a note demanding cash. Redmond was caught by Coralville police a short time later and charged with first-degree robbery.
Working with the Coralville Police Department and the FBI, Marion Police identified Redmond as the suspect in the robbery there.
According to online court records, Redmond is scheduled to go to trial Aug. 13 and has pleaded not guilty by way of insanity and diminished capacity.
Redmond would likely remain in Johnson County until proceedings there have been completed before facing charges in Linn County.
