Marion named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

Montell Marion's performance against Oklahoma State last Saturday has earned him Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors. The University of Iowa sophomore 141-pounder joins Brent Metcalf and Jay Borschel as  Hawkeyes who have won the award. This is the third straight week the accolade has been given to  an Iowa wrestler.

Marion, now 12-2 in college competition, defeated then fifth-ranked Jamal Parks, aiding top-ranked Iowa to a 19-16 win over the No. 4 Cowboys. Marion used a beautiful single leg takedown after an escape in the second period for a 3-0. He then was tough on top, riding out Parks for the remainder of the second and the entire third period to accumulate riding time and a 4-0 win.

Marion jumped to seventh in InterMat's individual rankings. Marion's win helped Iowa extend its school record dual win streak to 52 straight and a 14-0 record this season.
